Title of the Learning Content: SHELL Portal Online Tutorial

More than 140,000 users worldwide use the services of Shell’s international portal 24/7. Shell’s intra-mail is also operated through this portal system. In the past few years Shell has integrated additional knowledge management into the system. Our task was to develop a program for Shell’s employees to facilitate their quick understanding of how to use the portal.

Based on Shell’s request, we created a special animated course which teaches the use of the knowledge management functions as well as demonstrates the individual and organizational advantages of those functions. The interesting technological feature of the program is that it breaks entirely from the linear step-by-step content set-up, allowing our course content to also be used as a help function. The adaptive mechanism of the program senses the actual situation of the user and offers functionally related know-how and best practices accordingly.

The impact of the ALEAS On-line Tutorial was that the level of corporate knowledge sharing was significantly increased.  Following the success of this project, in June 2008 we received a new request from Shell’s HR department to develop an interactive career planning e-learning tutorial.
